AMPANNEE SATOH was born in 1983 in Pattani, Thailand. She received her Masters of Fine Art (Visual Arts Education) from Silpakorn University, Bangkok, in 2013, completed a Certificate course in Fine Art Photography at the Ministere de la Culture et de la Communication, L’Eć ole Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie in Arles, France, in 2010, and obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts (Photography) from Rangsit University, Thailand, 2006. She is currently Head of the Department of Photography in Faculty of Art and Design, Rangsit University,
Bangkok, Thailand, and lives and works in both Pattani and Bangkok. She was the Grand Prize winner of Young Thai Artist Award 2007 in the Photography category. Examining the lives of contemporary Muslim women through her photographic lens is one of the main concerns of her artistic practice.
