Chang Fee Ming

CHANG FEE MIND (b. 1959, Dungun, Terengganu)  is a self-taught artist who began his career in the early 1980s. Since then, he has become one of Asia’s most highly regarded artists working in watercolour. His works have been acclaimed, exhibited and collected throughout the world.  For over 20 years, Chang Fee Ming’s subject has been the people and places of South East Asia, and he has also portrayed life and culture in places as diverse as China, India and the East Coast of Africa. He is currently based in Kuala Terengganu, although he spends much of his time traveling through Asia. In his own words: “To travel and see and paint is for me a way of learning, part of my life philosophy”. 

Fee Ming has exhibited working internationally, including Malaysia (Bank Negara Museum and Art Gallery, 2016; Valentine Willie, Fine Art, 2010), Indonesia (Komaneka Fine Art, 2012; Chiang Mai University Art Museum, 2004; Galeri Nasional Indonesia, 2002), Singapore (Valentine Willie Fine Art, 2010; Singapore Tyler Print Institute, 2009), Thailand (National Gallery, 1995), Belgium (19th International Brussels Independent Film Festival Exhibition, 1997) and China (Shanghai Museum of Art, 1994; Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, 1991). Fee Ming received the Year 200 Winsor & Newtong Art Competition Award in 2000.
